When we founded IKON in 1991, our primary motive was the considerably poor share of Istanbul from international congress tourism. Since then, IKON Tourism has successfully organized many large scale events, serving more than 200.000 congress participants.
Through Turkey’s transition to the European Union, IKON’s target is to orient Turkish convention industry towards Europe and be awarded with many congress organizations in European cities.
“Fair and exhibition services” of many congresses taken on board by IKON were successfully conducted to date and IKON has established a separate fair organization company and team in 2001.
In addition to congress and fair organizations, IKON has been successfully performing event management activities and achieving new projects.
IKON Inc. Chairman Ali Güreli is one of the founding members of Turkish Hotel Association. He has acted as chairman of the Turkish Hotel Association between 1994-2001 and he is currently the honorary chairman. In 1997 within the TUGEV (Tourism Development Foundation) organization where he was chairman, he has pioneered in the foundation of ICVB (Istanbul Convention & Visitors Bureau) with the objective of marketing Istanbul as “an entire city” for the purpose of developing and increasing congress tourism.
IKON Tourism, together with the national professional association TURSAB (Association of Turkish Travel Agencies) is also member of international establishments such as ICCA (International Congress & Convention Association) and SKAL. Through such memberships, IKON keeps itself up to dated with the developments and innovations in congress tourism worldwide.
IKON Tourism is one of the founders and partners of Lütfi Kırdar Convention and Exhibition Centre operating firm UKTAŞ and KOMER/ Kuşadası Congress Centre.
